The Pioneer Bookshop Book Club was treated to a poetry lesson during its May meeting. Kelly Hansen Maher read from her book Tremolo. Kelly, who is a native of Minnesota, explained how the call of the loons and other Minnesota memories entered into her book which centers around loss and grieving.
The book club audience, most poetry novices, found the discussion enlightening. We all left with a greater appreciation of the words, formats and sounds of the poems in the book.
