Pioneer Bookshop Book Club June 20017 Meeting

On Thursay, June 8, the discussion will be about The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah.   We would love to have you join us at 7 pm at the Pioneer Bookshop.   Our group is very informal.  At times, some of us don't even finish a book but the discussion is still excellent.

From the jacket cover. " The Nightingale tells the stories of two sisters, separated by years and experience, by ideals, passion and circumstance, each embarking on her own dangerous path toward survival, love and freedom in German-occupied, war-torn France-a heartbreakingly beautiful novel that celebrates the resilience of the human spirit and the durability of women. "

May 2017 Pioneer Bookshop Meeting

The Pioneer Bookshop Book Club was treated to a poetry lesson during its May meeting.   Kelly Hansen Maher read from her book Tremolo. Kelly, who is a native of Minnesota, explained how the call of the loons and other Minnesota memories entered into her book which centers around loss and grieving.

The book club audience, most poetry novices, found the discussion enlightening. We all left with a greater appreciation of the words, formats and sounds of the poems in the book.
